Just got a news from one of our fellow coursemate in Clayton in MUSO Discussion...

Our exams had about 8-10 typos in it, like missing negative signs, a little
picture of a key instead of a grad symbol and shit like that. It took them about
half an hour to get us a corrected page for the page with the most mistakes, and
then it still had errors in it. They gave us an extra 1/2 hour to make up for
messing us around.

Screw it!!! We didn't get any extra time. Imagine if we had 30 minutes extra, IT COULD DEFINITELY MAKE A DIFFERENCE....

Level 2 Chemical Engineering Students

Since CHE2165 will be handled by two academic staff, the time table for CHE2165 is scheduled as follows:

Weeks 1 to 9: Lectures – W 11-1

Tutorial – W 3-4 / 4-5 / 5-6

Weeks 10 to 13: Lectures – M 9-10, F 9-10

Tutorial – M 11-12, Th 12-1, F 10-11

Lab classes remain the same throughout the semester.

Level 3 Chemical Engineering Students

Due to the requirement for pre-requisites, ENE3608 has been replaced by. CHE4161. ENE3608 will be offered in level 4.
Note that the lab sessions for CHE3161 and CHE3165 are scheduled at the same time as you will conduct the lab work for these two units at the same time. Details of the lab schedule will be given out during the lecture.

All Chemical Engineering Students

Due to the lack of interest in the “biotechnology” stream, this stream will not be offered to the students entering level 3 in the March and July semesters of 2008. In 2008, only the “sustainable processing” stream will be offered. The “biotechnology” stream” could be offered in 2009, depending on the demand and the interest of the new cohort of students.
Monash University emphasizes the importance of safety for staff and students. As a student enrolled in the chemical engineering program, you will be exposed to chemicals and handling of high pressure / temperature equipment. Don't Ask DUMB QUESTIONS Without Searching

Well of course, searching stuff with Google to find answers is a good idea. However, there are some people out there were so lazy to search themselves when it comes to difficult questions. These people will ask you to find for them and cause you many unwanted troubles.

When you ask “obvious” questions on forums or even in the MSN, it is very possible that the more experienced forum members or your friends will hit you with an answer which goes something like this only if he or she is polite enough:

"Don't be lazy. Just go ask Uncle Google =)"

For me, I would say something like this:

"WTF!! DUN ASK STUPID QUESTION!! JUST GO AND GOOGLE IT!!! DAMNATIONS!!"

Even if you really can't really get what you want, you should use other search engines, such as Yahoo! to assist you. Furthermore, you can always search for the keywords in your questions. Why would you want to trouble your friends and end up being scolded?

I hope everyone can learn something from here, or else...

Well, I was going through my 700 plus emails that I had, clearing them 1 by 1 while glancing through them, and i found some pretty interesting stories. So I thought, maybe I should share them with you people(though some of you might have already read these before). Anyway, if it's inappropriate, please let me know Chin Ying, I'd take it down...

Story 1

Little Bobby came into the kitchen where his mother was making dinner.
His birthday was coming up and he thought this was a good time to tell his mother what he wanted.

"Mom, I want a bike for my birthday."

Little Bobby was a bit of a troublemaker.He had gotten into trouble at school and at home.

Bobby's mother asked him if he thought he deserved to get a bike for his birthday. Little Bobby, of course, thought he did.
Bobby's mother wanted Bobby to reflect on his behavior over the last year.
"Go to your room, Bobby, and think about how you have behaved this year.
Then write a letter to God and tell him why you deserve a bike for your
birthday." Little Bobby stomped up the steps to his room and sat down to
write God a letter.

Letter 1
Dear God,
I have been a very good boy this year and I would like a bike for my
birthday. I want a red one.
Your friend,
Bobby

Bobby knew that this wasn't true. He had not been a very good boy this year,so he tore up the letter and started over.

Letter 2

Bobby walked down the street to the church on the corner. Little Bobby went into the church and up to the altar. He looked around to see if anyone was there.

Bobby bent down and picked up a statue of the Mary.

He slipped the statue under his shirt and ran out of the church, down the street, into the house, and up to his room. He shut the door to his room and sat down with a piece of paper and a pen. Bobby began to write his letter to God.

God,
I'VE KIDNAPPED YOUR MAMA. IF YOU WANT TO SEE HER AGAIN,

Story 2

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all.

He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out.
It won't matter how many times you say "I'm sorry", the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.

This Saturday 15th of September, there are a 'special class' according to Dr. Ganapathy..
is just lectures basically. from 10 am to 12pm. Same lecture hall.

And there is a very important Computing Exam on 6th of October, 10 am to 12 pm.
It contribute 10% to the internal marks. Venue.. unknown yet.

Referendum

As you know we're having a referendum here at monash.....

The current situation
1) We need at least 75% of students to call for a referendum (like this one) if amendment to the constitution (like the one we're trying for now) is desired.
2) Likewise, we need at least 50% of students to call for a referendum on all other matters.
3) If there is a referendum, no matter the results of the referendum, the decision from the referendum will be invalid unless 75% of the total student population vote in the referendum.

what is the referendum about?
In simple words, it's like a survey lahh but with results that actually matter!
Two Yes/No questions.
1) To lower the minimum student requirement to call for a referendum to 5%.
2) To make the results of a referendum valid if 20% of the student population vote in a referendum about amendments to the constitution and 15% for referenda regarding other matters.

Wow, sounds complicated. Why do we need this voting for change?
Currently, it is difficult to get enough students to vote or propose any changes so the chances of anything ever materialising are close to zero. C'mon, when did you last vote in anything that mattered?

What we need to do now?
Firstly, make sure you know exactly what this referendum is about and what implications your vote will have. Secondly, log in to 'my monash' to vote.

You have to make choices for yourself.
Go to http://www.musaonline.com/ for more information or drop by at MUSA.
Vote!! Tell these people whether its a YES or NO. Even if you don't want the constitution amended, you gotta tell them you don't want it!

Pick-Up Lines...

Well...

Here I am, posting some stuff that I found rather interesting and nice when I read the forums from somewhere. The title says it all.... 'PICK-UP LINES'(BEWARE: IF THESE PICK UP LINES FAIL, DON'T...I REPEAT, DON'T HOLD ME RESPONSIBLE). Below are the lines which I find pretty interesting and some quite 'cliche'-ish:

1. Do you believe in love at first sight?...Or do I have to walk by again?

2. Your parents must be bakers cuz they sure put out a great set of buns!

3. Your parents must be thieves cuz someone stole the stars from the sky and put them in your eyes.

4. Do you have a quarter? Cuz I promised I would call my mother as soon as I fell in love.

5. Pardon me, I seem to have lost my phone number, can I borrow yours?

6. Your legs must be tired cuz you've been running through my mind all night.

7. I heard milk was good for your body, but damn! You must drink gallons at a time!

10. If I could rearrange the alphabet, I'd put 'U' and 'I' together.

12. A: Walks up to "B" and gently pulls up "B's" collar and looks at the tag in the shirt.
A: Hmph and a long pause. Then A walks away.
B: What the hell? What was that? etc...
A: Oh... I was just checking to see if it said "Made in Heaven."

13. A: Did it hurt?
B: What?!?!?!?!?
A: When you fell from the sky as an angel!

These are the supposedly GOOD and FAMOUS ones! Lastly, this is my homemade, all-time famous and POTENTIALLY THE BEST pick-up line that has ever been created!!!(Note: Can be only used on girls with red cheeks)

While brain-storming for my first post in this blog, it wasn't a surprise that the first thing that crossed my mind was a fabulous way to misuse technology...haha....anyone up for PLAGIARISM or COLLUSION??

To start things off and make life more simple for us normal beings, i suggest we appoint "Answer/Solution Providers!!!!" As the name suggests, this group of highly intellectual people, regardless of rain or shine finish their work earlier than us and as to do good to society, might as well post their answers and solutions here for us to "refer" and "compare". Now doesn't that sounds wonderful? hehe....imagine the extra time well spent on other stuff......

To make this work....we need the "group"...shall think of a superb name for the group later....hehe....and I nominate none other than JIA YENG!!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!....

Today, there was a campus tour for returning students at the new Monash campus. Only a handful of us from our batch went for it (yup, you can count on your fingers, hehe.. :) ), with a few 'pop-ups' of our frenz here and there in the campus.

The campus is big, and the library is so much better and nicer than the sunway uni. college one, haha...you gotta see it to believe it :) I'll leave the suspense here, for whoever that has not been to the campus that is ready for us to use :p

Well, a piece of advice: if u're late for the 1st lecture on this coming Monday, 16/7/07, which is ENG1020 a.k.a. structures, go to Building 5 and go to the basement. LT 2m is there. If you can't find the building no., try to look for signs that has orange colour. Orange colour represents the building for Engineering and Language Centre. Different buildings has different colours.

The rest, I'll leave it for you to explore the brand new campus of Monash University Sunway Campus... Have fun!! :D

Weeeeheeee..........

So. Now we do have a place of our own, just for the sake of -ugh- having a space to gossip?

Looking back at the past; not too long ago, most of us were total strangers to each other. I obviously had the privilege of the company of a few 'brothers' (I christened them brothers to prevent the rest of you from calling them bodyguards, boyfriends and whatsoever). And then soon, as if out of nowhere, friendships blossomed and now we're sharing a blog! That's something to celebrate!!! It takes a chunk of coincidence and compatibility to have landed in the same spot and to actually make friends!

We (or at least I think I) did have a great semester. MOST of the lecturers were pretty good at getting us warmed up. Of course, Dr Lan (that cute bearded man below) did most of the job.

So I guess I've made my mark on this blog. There's nothing much to say since we're all on a blissful vacation now. I do miss you people but I'm not looking forward to a new semester that means more work and assignments! In the meantime, enjoy your holidays!

P/s: I enjoyed myself in Redang! Thank you so much for the invitation and company!
